Emma’s practicing her runway smile… coming soon is “the walk!”
We had pictures of Emma taken last week. The proud mom in me wants to put them up all at once, but Ian says I should add them gradually. Here are the first few.
Emma’s grandparents came in to SA tonight. They stopped by to see her before her bedtime. Grandpa took the opportunity to let her “ride” his bike…
You are, indeed, included in the plans I have for Emma and I… How else would we fund these plans???!!! (just kidding)
Anyway, you are the love of my life. Before Emma was around, you and I were the team. Now our team has become three. I love you and there is no one that I would rather raise our kids with. You are a wonderful dad and I look forward to seeing you love our children as much as I will. You rock!!!
I hope that you will read this someday and realize just how much I love you. You are three months old, and these three months have been the happiest (and busiest) of my life thus far. You have taught me how to give of myself more than I ever thought I could. I thought that I was a good person for donating money to the church and helping people in need, but none of those things have compared to being your mom. I have put your needs and wants ahead of my own. I cannot count the times that I have left the dinner table to answer to your poopy diaper or cry for food. Or the nights that I had to choose NOT to sleep to answer to your helpless cries. I have learned that taking care of you (and thus, neglecting myself,) has brought me so much joy.
I love it when I pick you up and you stop crying. It feels like I am the only person in the world that can make you better, and it makes me gleam with joy. I am proud of you for so many reasons. You are the smartest three month, one week, and 6 day old that has ever existed. You are for certain gifted and talented. I can’t wait to teach you more about life. I want to show you how to be loving, caring, generous, understanding, patient, and full of joy. I want to help you explore just how beautiful the world is. I can’t wait to travel with you and show you beaches, snow, rain, and nature. I long for days of messy painting and running around the sprinklers in the backyard. I want you to taste yummy foods and help me cook and bake them. I really, really can’t wait for you to get bigger.
Some mommies like their babies when they are tiny and needy, but I think I am a mommy that wants you to grow up. I want us to do ‘Big Girl’ stuff. We are going to have so much fun together… Until then, let’s learn the basics together. Let’s learn how to roll over, crawl, talk, and walk (hopefully in that order.)
In case you are still not convinced, I want you to always know that I love you. I love you. You are my perfect baby. I would do anything for you. I pray that God will give me the wisdom and guidance to be a good Mommy for you. I pray that He will grant me lots of time with you. And I especially pray that He watch over you, keep you safe, and bring you to know Him at a young age. I am so thankful so be your Mommy. I feel blessed that God chose me for you. We are such a great team!
These are Emma’s friends Travis and Chase. Travis is 2 1/2 and Chase is almost 8 months old… They couldn’t care less that we are taking pictures of them, but us moms love it!
Here Baby Chase is putting the moves on Baby Emma…. sshhh… don’t tell Daddy!
Here he is playing Emma’s tummy like a drum!
Last night my cousin Oliver married his beautiful bride, Gabriela in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. The Warshaks could not make it since it would be such a long trip for Baby Emma. We wish you the best of luck and God’s blessings for your marriage. Hopefully we can see some pictures of the wedding soon- I’m sure it was beautiful!
Tequila, by the way, is the place in Mexico where the real tequila is made (Jose Cuervo and Sauza distilleries are there.) It is a small traditional town with small shops and churches, and my parents have loved it. I talked to them on the phone tonight and they were sitting at an outdoor restaurant by the town square. What a neat place to be. I looked up some pictures of Tequila- they are here and here…
OK, so we all know Ian is a computer geek…
I’ll share a quick story about that. One Christmas, Mike and Cindy got Ian a computer… It was the best gift ever- probably too expensive to get, but they knew he would love it. Some time later, little Ian decided to take it apart to find out how it worked and to see if he could put it back together. I’m sure they were upset when they realized what their son had done. After all, they had just spent so much money on it, only to have him break it (or so they thought.)
Well, little Ian did put it back together. That experience with his computer planted the seed of wonder in him for all things ‘technology.’ These days, he is still like a kid when it comes to technology. He enjoys the latest gadgets, including computers and cameras. He currently has his eye on a new MacBook Pro. It is a pretty pricey piece of technology. Don’t be surprised if you see a post about him buying it sometime in the future.
I guess it’s never too early to teach your baby how to use computers. If you look closely you will see that Emma is the one driving the mouse. Who says feet are only used for walking??
Maybe Emma will get a computer for Christmas someday.

Baby Emma was all ready for swimming at Grandpa Mike’s house… Mommy bought her not one but two bathing suits that were probably WAY too big for her. The only size I found was 6-12 months (Emma was not even 3 months old at the time.) We got her all greased up with her baby sunblock around noon and were anxious to get her in the pool for the first time.
It was too hot and bright for her to swim around noon, so we decided to wait until later. Later came and Emma decided it was time to fuss some, sleep some, and eat some… Friends and family came and went, and before we knew it, it was 6pm. Soooo, now it was too cool and windy. Poor Emma… she really wanted to swim and we had to be mean parents and tell her she couldn’t. Hopefully she doesn’t hate us too much.
I think Mommy is sadder about it than she is…
