Trading Places.

We have officially lived through Emma’s first fever.  It came as a result of her shots yesterday.  She is okay now, but it almost killed me.  I know, I know.  Fever is a good thing.  It is supposed to fight the infection.  It won’t cause her any harm.  She’ll be herself again in a few days…
I have decided that I hate fever.  It breaks my heart to see her looking so mellow.  She lets me hold her in ways that she usually hates.  She has given in to sleep when all she really wants to do is play.   Let me assure you, if I could, I would trade places with her in an instant.

I’m happy to say that the fever went away.   And I would be great with it not coming back ever again…

Home. Sweet Home.

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE my house. I love everything about it. I love how it looks, where it is located, and I love that it is old. That is why I get to fix it up and make it our own. We moved in to our house a little over two years ago. Since then, we have done numerous projects to improve it. I could tell you many, many stories.

Like the time Ian installed the wood blinds in the kitchen only to see that they were about 2 feet SHORT. As he realized that they were not going to work, he just laid on the kitchen floor in silence. I couldn’t help but laugh. OR there was the time when he wanted to install a box in the wall behind the fridge to hide the waterline. We ended up calling Hector, our handyman, to come fix the HUGE hole he had made in the wall. OR the time when we had to paint our bathroom THREE different times to get the right color. I wanted Restoration Hardware’s Silver Sage, but decided I would try to find it at Home Depot. Huge mistake. After trying 2 colors we went to RH and just bought it. I could go on and on…
I am happy to announce that all the walls in our house have now been painted, all of the flooring has been redone, all of our old cabinets painted, and ALL wallpaper has been removed. I don’t know if it is a “girl” thing, but I just can’t stop thinking about things to do to our house. After doing so much already, I still have an ongoing list of MORE TO DO!!!

For now, Ian will need your luck since he will be hearing about all my ideas. I will try to get them all done by myself, but I can’t make any promises.

4 Generations.

What a blessing to see 4 generations together! I felt so happy to have Emma visit Mama Soco’s house in Monterrey, where I used to visit when I was her age. Even though we were only there for a few hours, she had a chance to take a nap like I used to…
The following are 4 generations in the Buenrostro family.

Wedding Fun!

So we went to my cousin Nancy’s wedding a few weekends ago… It was so much fun! The wedding started at 8 pm, which is right around Emma’s bedtime. I was worried that she would be fussy and tired and that we would have to leave the party early. But, Emma did great! She ALWAYS surprises me! Emma was awake until 1:30 am and very HAPPY! We did leave early, but we had lots of fun with family while we were there. Here are some photos…

All dressed up for the party…

My niece is getting married next summer and we are ready to do this again!

Slackin’

OK, I know I’ve been slackin’ off lately. We’ve been busy with summer stuff, but now I have no excuse for not writing… My reason is this– my new iMac… It is pretty sweet. Its the first computer that I get since college. I ALWAYS get Ian’s leftover computers. But no more!!!

Anyway, I LOVE it! I think I could be a salesperson for Mac… Have you seen the commercials with the Mac and the PC?? The ones where the PC is in the brown box and Mac is in the white box ready to go? It is totally true. My iMac was the easiest thing in the world to set up. AND you don’t have to be a computer geek to know how to use it. Stuff just works. Photo programs… Music… Video (it comes with a built-in camera)… Widgets… All kinds of applications that are so EASY to use. Macs can even run Windows… I am impressed. I think everyone should own a Mac.

Needless to say, I will be spending more time in front of a computer. I have to admit that Ian was right about Apple. I am a believer…
